My father was a writer. He wrote all of his life, inflicting upon many of us his novels, plays, articles, essays, and self-help books. Some were marvelous; some merely well-intentioned. But of all the things he wrote, his journal is his legacy: by turns wise and bewildering, it neared 1,100 type-written pages when he died in 2010. Although perused many times, this is the first time it will be read - cover to cover, page after page.

This Very Special Way
Just what is this very special way he keeps talking about -- how Jesus will come in a very special way and we will respond in a similar fashion? What makes it so special? How will either of us know it is occurring? How does very special differ from just plain special? Does expectation exceed what can be realized? Is this wishful thinking; will some of us miss it? Will it become less special for becoming more familiar? Whatever it is, could we say it a different way?
